Computer Case Mods

I started powder coating and the wife came up with a brilliant idea and I was looking for some parts to practice on. Powder coating is a process of apply powdered paint with a electrical charge and then baking the paint in a oven at roughly 400 degrees Fahrenheit. First of all I had to disassemble the pc's completely, then I had to strip the existing paint off the pc case's. I used Jasco floor adhesive stripper (from Home Depot) for this. It's a chemical stripper and will burn the skin so use caution. As you can see it removes everything. Click on the any of the images for larger images.

Next clean the parts thoroughly, I used 400 grit emory cloth and triple 000 steel wool to clean up any surface scratches and to add swirl marks to the case, then I used a mild de greaser and then soap and water to clean all dust and grease from the case. Then placed parts in my used $40 kitchen oven to evaporate all the water from the cracks and crevices. Then on to applying the powder and bake it. Prep takes the most time. Applying the powder and baking it fairly simple. Once you buy the powder coat equipment and air compressor.

Wife's pc is the Psycho Lime with black power supply I powder coated and clear plexiglas side cover that I heated up and bent into shape, then I added the green cold cathodes, the round UV green IDE cables, round UV green floppy cables and a UV green fan. Cables wrapped with green UV cable wrap. Front bezel still needs to be done.

Paul's Case

My pc is the LollyPop Blue with Tropic Orange, I added black UV code cathodes, with blue uv round floppy and IDE cables, blue UV cable wrap and blue UV fan. The UV is black light reactive that is why it glows. I powder coated the power supply and drive cage black, I also made a clear plexiglas side panel. Next I have to do something about the front bezel.

If you would like me to powder coat your pc or mod it or if you would like some other items powder coated you can email me at the link below.

Brendan's Case

Well plans have changed, the old case was a POS, you can see what i did to it at the bottom of this page, so Brendan got a new case with window. The new case is silver but the chassis is now LollyPop Blue. Cables are wrapped with UV sleeving, hard drive and floppy cable are UV reactive as are teh fans, because he wanted his pc to glow in the dark like mine.

This is Brendan's power supply. Notice the heat sink clip to the right of the power supply.

Chris's Case

This entire case is Candy RED!!! Chris stripped this case down to bare metal and I then polished the hell out of it using, 220, 330 and then 400 grit sand paper on my dual action air sander. Then I powder coated it in my garage. Its BEAUTIFUL!!!
